... are not my specialty! I don't see things in 3D so I have to use a lot of scrap paper before I actually move to cardstock and start creating. I wanted to do something different today and I happened to pick up a past issue of Stampin' Success, the magazine Stampin' Up! puts out for demos. It's free to all demos, but I have to say I would pay BIG BUCKS for this publication and all the ideas it gives me. This template was included so I thought I would give it a try. Two hours later.....ahem!
This is the outside front of the card. Here are the details.
I started with a base card of Kraft cardstock. All the Designer Series Paper is from the Thoroughly Modern collection. The colors are Kraft, Bermuda Bay, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. The colors themselves are rich and very pretty, but the combination of patterns and stripes is really beautiful in this collection.
On the cover, I used a piece of the striped DSP and Very Vanilla, covering the seam with the Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon -- I just used the reverse side! I stamped my sentiment from Short and Sweet in Chocolate Chip ink and used three Chocolate Chip 1/4" circles to balance the front. My Techniques Gals say, "You always do that" and they would be right.
Here is the inside left portion of the card:
I used a kraft floral pattern from the DSP to cover the Kraft cardstock and give me a "basic" background. I stamped the Bear from Beary Best Friends in Chocolate Chip ink and colored her using my Close to Cocoa, Bermuda Bay, Rose Red, Regal Rose and Close to Caramel inkpads and blender pens. I cut her out and stamped the flower from the same set, cutting it out to attach to my bear.
I used a square of cardstock to "pop" her off the page so she stands out. Using the Beary Nice Wishes, I stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched this with the oval punch. I punched a scalloped oval in Rose Red and adhered the Very Vanilla oval to it. I adhered this to the panel using dimensionals.
Here is the right hand side of the card:
I adhered a patterned piece of Rose Red onto the Kraft cardstock. Next, I punched hearts using the 3 Heart punch in Rose Red, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla and Kraft. I randomly attached the hearts together and adhered them to the card with adhesive, with dimensionals and with stacked dimensionals so they pop off the page as well.
The bottom is a different piece of the Rose Red patterned DSP. I just wanted something to cover the Kraft cardstock and give it some ooomph.
Here's what the card looks like when it is folded.
If you click on the picture, it will enlarge.
This was a challenge for me, but now that I've done it once, I know I can do it again and make a card that is actually a keeper! I like the card, but I'd like to do larger images to make them pop to get a big WOW! from the recipient.
More tomorrow....we'll see what I can get into tonight! Happy Thursday! We're almost there!
