It's Friday and we're almost to the weekend! Hooray! Tonight is Senior Night at Marion Catholic so we'll be on the field with Andy, who will not be in his uniform. He's definitely out for two more games and I'm praying he scraps the season. He is still having headaches, has limited range of motion in his neck, and still has no strength in his grip, or in his arms. I'm not sure what his strength is in his legs, but he is walking around. No running or anything of that sort as yet, and he isn't cleared to do any of that until he is 24 hours without a headache and medication. So.....we'll be on the field and he'll be safe. Their opponent tonight is one of their biggest and this mom is going to be grateful to see her son on the sideline. Now...if he just will wear a coat because it is supposed to be blustery, but you know that real men don't wear coats... Whatever....
Today's Blogger's Challenge is to Alter It. I spent a good deal of time at work yesterday wondering what I was going to alter. And I have to tell you that my intention was to alter a photo frame; however, my hubby reminded me as I was leaving work that we had a function to attend last night for a friend of his and that it would be one of "those" functions we couldn't just waltz in and waltz out of as I might desire. So, instead, with my limited time, I altered one of the Stampin' Up! Magnetic boxes from the Holiday Mini. Ladies, you've got to get these boxes! At 2 boxes for $4.95, they are a steal! They are roomy enough to hold gift cards or small gifts, but they don't have to be decorated just for Christmas! I'm hoarding them to use for all gift giving events in the upcoming year for which I'll need a small box. If you just wrap them in our wide striped ribbon, they are gorgeous! Enough of my soapbox...
Because my time was very limited and I've been a bit under the weather this week, I decided to use my Silver Shimmer Paint to alter this box. I inked up Dasher with a sponge dauber and the Silver Shimmer Paint, then stamped him, leaving enough room for my greeting. I inked my greeting using the sponge dauber as well and then stamped the greeting under the main image. Easy and done.
I used the Silver cord to wrap the box several times and then tied it in the back. This cord will slide off easily, allowing my recipient to open the box and find his/her gift. I know...too easy to almost call it altered, but I wanted to participate in the challenge and this, although almost a paltry effort, fits the challenge. I love the boxes and planned to alter some with paper, but my schedule was thrown off kilter when Thom reminded me we had to attend his function.
I am finally feeling like myself this morning and with all the sleep I've had this week, I should! Crazy tired all week, but I have high hopes of stamping a bunch tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend! I hope you get creative time as well!
At this point, it appears that our Cards for the Kids event will be held on Sunday, November 8, and I'm going to be applying for a room at the church today. Once I get the details finalized, I'll publish them here, as well as getting them to all the generous ladies who have so graciously said they would help by making cards. We are so blessed and I am honored that so many of you have agreed to help out! Thanks bunches!

So pretty! The shimmer paint looks fabulous against the dark box.

Tami, I hope you are feeling better and sounds like it's a relief having your son out on the field but not playing tonight. How scary!
These boxes are adorable! I guess I overlooked that page altogether in the mini.
