Well, we're back and we finally got a Bowl Game Win! Go Bucks! It was a great deal of fun, but I'm glad to be back. I didn't stamp for two weeks and I think I've forgotten how, but with a new mini debuting on January 5 and Sale-A-Bration on now, I'm ready!
Here's a card with the new set, Vintage Vogue, from the new Occasions Mini.
This card came about as a result of a sketch challenge and a color challenge. I'm trying to work smarter and not harder. The color challenge was Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke and Brocade Blue.
I started with a base card of Chocolate Chip and embossed it with Stampin' Up!'s new Dotted embossing folder. Love it! Once embossed, I very gently swiped my Whisper White craft pad over the dots to bring them up a bit.
What about that border? Punched with the new scalloped border and isn't it pretty? This is a new style of punch and I love it -- it stores flat when not in use. I punched the border on Brocade Blue cardstock. Next, I used the clear mounted red rubber stamp to create the background you see on the Whisper White cardstock. I used my Brocade Blue and Always Artichoke markers to color the rubber (which makes these unmounted stamps fabulous because sometimes you have a hard time using markers on clear stamps!). I markered the stamp and just randomly placed the images to create the background. Very pretty!
I wrapped the 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and then wrapped the 1/4" Always Artichoke ribbon across that and tied a bow. I stamped the Friends Image after using my Brocade Blue and Chocolate Chip markers to ink the image. I used the Chocolate Chip marker to ink the words and stamped them in two lines, versus the one line in which they come. This was very easy to do since I can now see through the blocks to see where I've stamped. I am so in love with these unmounted stamps -- I can't wait until you see and try them!
Finally, because I wanted to add some more dimension, I mounted the Friends image on Always Artichoke and attached it to the base card with dimensionals. I stamped the flower image in Brocade Blue on Whisper White, and stamped the leaf image in Always Artichoke on both Always Artichoke and Whisper White cardstock. Once they were cut out, I arranged them, attached with dimensionals and then added them to my card. I added the So Saffron brads to the flower centers and called this done.
This card took FOREVER because I had something else entirely in mind. I tried different layouts but kept coming back to the sketch. Oh well, I knew what I needed and was finally able to get it completed. If I haven't stamped in a long while, it takes me a long time to get things accomplished. The best part was that my stamp room was decently clean so I was able to dive right in.
Here is a pic of Thom and I at the Rose Bowl. It was cold!
Here's another picture where I tried to capture the sunlight on the mountains as we sat in the dark of the stadium where the sun had gone down behind us. It was absoutely a stunner -- even the men noticed how pretty it was! A beautiful venue made more gorgeous by our win!
Look for more cards and scrapbook pages to come!
And, for those of you who aren't on my email list, my son is out of sports for the remainder of his Senior Year. He tore his ACL in a basketball game on December 18. Bummer because track, not basketball, is his sport of choice and he is out for good now. Surgery is imminent but I don't know when and won't have a date until at least January 11, when we see the physician again. Such a great child and it broke my heart for him. But, he's looking ahead. If he has the surgery now, he should be good to go when he starts college in the fall. The docs have already warned him there is a six month rehab period and since he wants to major in Physical Therapy, I'm wondering if God has done this to give him a feel for his chosen field and to help him have empathy for those he will work with in the future who may have a sports injury that knocks them out of sports for good as well. You never know, but I feel certain there is a blessing here. There always is if you chose to seek it out...
See you tomorrow! God Bless!

Wow Tami ! You did an awesome job with the challenge ! Can't wait to my Vintage Vogue set arrive :-) Thanks for playing along and have a great weekend !!

It's always cool to match up the face behind the art! I'm glad you put up a photo of yourself! This card is gorgeous! Apparently SOME SILLY demonstrator forgot to put this folder on her order.. I must have been out of my mind! It is most certainly on the "need" list. (((hugs)))
