Well, tomorrow is the "Big" day -- Valentine's Day! I've got a treat for you because today, I'm sharing the card Thom and I received from his sister, my sister-in-law, Laura. I love this card and I'm certain she sent it to us because it is totally my style. Laura never makes the same card twice -- she's funny that way. I convinced her to enter a swap one time and she came to work with 15 different cards. I had to explain to her that she had to make the same card for all 15 people and she wasn't a happy camper. In fact, I don't think she has ever entered another swap!
Forgive my poor photo abilities -- I need to make a light box and just haven't taken the time to do it. But it needs to hit the top of my "To Do" list quickly....
If you click on any of these pictures, you will get a larger image and I encourage you to do so! By the way, I've watermarked these with my watermark just in case Laura wants to enter this card in a contest -- I didn't create it, but I'm making certain we "protect" it for her.
The first picture is the front of the card. When it arrived in the mail, it was tied in a beautiful bow. I can't do "beautiful bows" and that is why everything I do has a knot. I tried diligently to recreate that beautiful bow but couldn't get it right so you don't see it. The second photo is the outside of the entire card. The Hearts are all around the outside and each is hooked together, glued at the edges. The third picture is the inside and the hearts pop out at you when you open the card to see the greeting.
I love everything about this card: The colors, the way she embossed the front cover and sanded the small hearts so they would pop out and the simple, yet different pattern of each heart. And, to top it off: She Shimmer Sprayed it so it glistens! Isn't it pretty? Clean and simple gets me every time.
I've done this type of card but haven't thought about it for a while. I think I may be doing something similar to this for Andy's graduation with stars. I'll have to start working toward that idea soon as it is coming up in May. And incidentally, both Andy and Paige, my neice, will be graduating on the same day so we don't get to see Paige graduate, and Laura and Joe don't get to see Andy graduate. Oh well, life happens! We're both still working on getting our "children" enrolled in college too. It's a neat thing to have someone to talk to about all of these experiences as we are both going through them together.
I'm off to work on my class for the library, as well as card club creations for the 22nd. There are challenges out there that I want to work on today as well and I know I've bitten off far more than I can chew. We'll have to see what I actually get accomplished....
Happy Valentine's Day!
